What started off as a small home bakery that has blossomed into a full blown business that continues to grow every day!
The Bakery is Born
Cranked Up Confections came about in the spring of 2020 (yes during the COVID shutdowns I was just opening up my doors) when I was asked by so many people to offer my baked goods and keto items for sale.
I researched the laws, got all of my paperwork in order and started my little business from the kitchen of our home in Bossier City, Louisiana, under the state's Cottage Food Laws.
My dream of having a retail bakery became a reality and in September 2023 when I opened my retail location in our new Kansas hometown!
February 2021
Cranked Up Confections became SEBD Certified (Small and Emerging Business Development) in the state of Louisiana and also certified with Louisiana Department of Economic Development as a Small Entrepreneurship within the Hudson Initiative.
June 2021
I also took the lead to help improve the cottage food laws in the State of Louisiana, working closely with State Representative Dottie Horton as well as the Institute for Justice. Through those efforts HB 828 was passed the 2022 Legislative Session and signing to law by Governor John Edwards on May 18, 2022, improving the laws for home bakers across the state by increasing the gross annual sales threshold.
March 2022
I was featured as one of 4 women-owned restaurants on the front page of the Shreveport Times, sharing this honor with the amazing owners of Prepped Up Meals, Mi Meza Latin Cuisine and Glow Alchemy Kitchen.
April 2022
We moved to Kansas in April 2022 when my husband returned to working at Whitetail Heaven Outfitters.
Our new hometown already had a bakery on Main Street so I continued to bake and decorate custom cookies and cakes from my home, gaining new customers and preparing to return to the kitchen as the chef during hunting season.
